Published lists of validated names and descriptions of rhododendrons, camellias and magnolias which have been hybridised or selected and thought worthy of giving unique names
We are fortunate to have international registration authorities for all three of our genera of interest.
Why is this so important? Because knowing that what is being offered for sale and chosen for our gardens, or added to curated collections, is accurately named and matches published descriptions, gives certainty, creates a vibrant history and is vital for conservation efforts, both now and into the future.
The current international registration authorities process applications for registrations of new hybrids or selections of species, and manage additions or amendments to existing records. They also ensure that duplication of names, which causes problems both short and long term, is avoided.
